U.Va.'s School of Engineering and Applied Science has a record of educating technically astute and leadership-ready engineers. Soon, more of Virginia's numerous technology-driven companies will be able to find -- and hire -- these U.Va. engineers, thanks to new internship and career advice offered by the school's unique distance education program.
In honor of the upcoming residency of renowned choreographer Bill T. Jones in November, the University of Virginia Art Museum will present an exhibition of images of dance, drawn from its own and private collections. "The Dancer and the Dance: Prints, Drawings and Photographs" opens tomorrow and runs through Dec. 23.
Grants of up to $1,500 are available for U.Va. faculty members to support a personal workshop on a manuscript nearing completion. The program, administered by the Teaching Resource Center, is open to tenure-track or tenured faculty members, who may apply by Aug. 5.
Students in U.Va. studio art professor Megan Marlatt's summer class are learning firsthand the powerful inspiration of nature while spending two weeks at U.Va.'s Mountain Lake Biological Station, opening the door for other disciplines to discover all that the woodland setting has to offer.
